Patient Portals Boost Involvement in Patient Care

13 May 2016

In definition, a patient portal is a web-based access point that allows doctors and patients to communicate and share health information remotely. While the patient portal is no substitute for an in-office visit, there are many benefits in accessing your health records online.

More than half of all healthcare providers in the U.S. are now using patient portal technology, according to a new report conducted by KLAS. After interviewing providers from health systems, hospitals and clinics it was determined that 57 percent of providers are currently using a patient portal solution. This dramatic increase over the past few years is a direct result of government mandates requiring physicians to give patients access to their health records online. In the meaningful use mandate released in August 2012, physicians were required to have a minimum of 5% or their patient’s login and access their health records online.

As the leading healthcare technology company in providing online health record access for patients, ViewMyHealthRecords.com continues to engineer technology that simplifies the experience in having patients login and review their health records.
